Seattle-area youth soccer player Lim You has made headlines on the international stage after an extraordinary performance for Malaysia at the 2026 Srikandi Merdeka Cup in Indonesia.

The 14-year-old forward, who plays for XF Academy 2012 and competes in the ECNL, exploded onto the international scene with seven goals in Malaysia's 9–0 victory over Saudi Arabia on August 18.

Lim's performance was especially impressive because of the quality and variety of her finishing. Her powerful left foot produced multiple goals from outside the box, along with a free kick and a penalty. Her seven-goal performance quickly went viral across Malaysian and international soccer communities.

From XF Academy to the International Stage

Lim was born in Taiwan and grew up in the United States, with Malaysian roots through her parents, who are from Johor. She began her soccer development at XF Academy in the United States before earning the opportunity to represent Malaysia internationally.

Her development in the U.S. has included playing in the ECNL, one of the country's premier youth soccer environments. Earlier this year, SoccerWire selected Lim as a player to watch at the ECNL Girls Phoenix National Event and highlighted her scoring ability and U.S. Soccer recognition.

Golden Boot Winner

Lim's seven-goal performance against Saudi Arabia was only part of her tournament success.

She finished the 2026 Srikandi Merdeka Cup as the tournament's top scorer, winning the Golden Boot with eight goals as Malaysia finished third.

For a player who is only 14 years old, the performance represents a remarkable milestone β€” and a proud moment for the Seattle youth soccer community.

Congratulations to Lim You and XF Academy on an incredible international tournament!
